Sage Piché

Center Director

Sage graduated summa cum laude from CWU, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Before becoming the Center Director of Sylvan Learning of Maple Valley, she was a tutor at Sylvan for a year and a half. She also has experience substitute teaching for the Tahoma School District. Sage has a strong passion for education and helping learners reach their goals.

Sage grew up in Maple Valley and thus is very familiar with the surrounding community. She has learned a great deal during her time in college, student teaching, and working for Sylvan. She continues to work towards improving her teaching and management skills and growing her repertoire of evidence-based teaching strategies. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas including Reading, Writing, Math, and Science.

In her free time, Sage enjoys playing video games, reading, baking, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Mackenzie Skaggs

Director of Education

As the newly appointed Director of Education at Sylvan, Mackenzie assumes her role with a wealth of experience and a diverse background. Graduating from Northwest University with a degree in Psychology, Mackenzie’s educational journey has been marked by a commitment to understanding the intricacies of human behavior and cognition.

In addition to her responsibilities at Sylvan, Mackenzie extends her expertise as a paraeducator in the Tahoma School District, where she engages with students in a different educational setting. Her experience as a pharmacy technician further enriches her perspective, demonstrating her versatility and adaptability across various fields. Mackenzie’s dedication to teaching extends to exploring each student’s individualized education program, and discerning what strategies work best for their unique needs. She delves into the specifics of each program with enthusiasm, aiming to establish connections with students and customize her approach accordingly.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Mackenzie finds solace in her love for travel, with Japan and Disneyland holding special places in her heart. When she’s not exploring new destinations, she can often be found indulging her passion for cinema, immersing herself in the latest movies at the local theater.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and personal growth, Mackenzie embraces challenges in the field of education with open arms. Her dedication to continuous learning and development underscores her commitment to providing the best possible educational experiences for her students.
