Avnita Lakhani
Director
As Center Director, Avnita leads operations management, sales and enrollment, program management, local marketing, staffing and training, customer service and financials for Sylvan Learning of Everett. In 2022, Avnita received an award for Center Director of the Year within the Sylvan Learning franchise. Avnita’s passion is offering a personalized learning experience and positive academic growth for all students at Sylvan of Everett. David Garlock
Tutor
David joined Sylvan of Everett in summer 2024. He has a master’s degree in education and 25 years of teaching experience. David works as a teacher in the Everett Public School District. David’s expertise includes Language Arts/Reading (K-12), Math (K-8 including Algebra and Geometry), Writing, History and Social Studies (K-12), Spanish 1, 2, and 3 as well as College Test Prep (ACT and SAT). David also has extensive experience in AP History and AP Language Arts.
Hera LeVine
Tutor
Hera joined Sylvan of Everett in November 2024. Hera brings to Sylvan a great balance of working in education and working in professional work settings such as SafeSplash and Right At School after school programs. This experience will help student understand how to apply their Sylvan education to real world settings. Hera earned a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Math with a STEM teaching certificate. Hera’s expertise includes Math (up to middle level math); Science (advanced up to middle level science), Writing (K-12), English Language Arts (K-12) and Homework assistance.

Donna Schmidt
Tutor
Donna joined Sylvan of Everett in November 2024. Donna brings to Sylvan a passion for teaching and valuable experience working as a paraeducator with the Mukilteo school district, specifically at Olivia Park Elementary school. Donna is currently working to complete her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Her primary focus involves engaging with students in K-5. Donna’s expertise includes teaching in small groups, LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention) with reading and comprehension, SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics and Sight Words), early numeracy and beginning writing.

Nneka Abakporo
Tutor
Nneka Abakporo is a graduate of Edmonds College with an Associate’s Degree in Family Support Studies. She is currently working on her Bachelor’s Degree in Child, Youth, and Family Services. As a Sylvan tutor, Nneka specializes in reading and math (K-5), providing encouragement and patience to her young students. When she is not at Sylvan, Nneka likes to hike and exercise, spends time with her family and college friends, and journaling. Her hidden talent is singing, which she has been doing since she was 4 years old.

Laina Hall
Tutor
Laina has been part of the tutoring team at the Everett Sylvan Learning Center since 2003. She teaches all levels of Reading. In addition, Laina is a skilled tutor in Writing, Math, SAT/ACT Prep, Homework Support and Study Skills. She also currently works at Jefferson Elementary School in a Developmental Kindergarten class! She excels at helping students find the fun in learning. Laina grew up in Paradise, California, and is the only sister to four younger brothers. She attended both Ricks College and BYU. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, making cards and scrapbooking.
