Our tutors and staff in Midlothian consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Midlothian know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Mandi Cochran
Executive Director
My name is Mandi Cochran and I have been with Sylvan since 2009. I began as an afterschool tutor doing small group instruction at several of our local elementary schools. I joined Sylvan full time in 2013. If there’s a position at Sylvan, I’ve done it! I became the franchisee of my first center in 2017. I am thrilled to be a part of the Midlothian Sylvan family. I look forward to supporting families in our community by growing academic confidence in our students!
Troy Cressman
Center Director
My name is Troy Cressman and I am a lifelong Richmond-area native. I attended Henrico County Public Schools. I attended VCU, where I earned both a Bachelor of Science in psychology and Master of Teaching in Elementary Education In 2001, I started working for Sylvan as an instructor while teaching full time. After leaving the classroom, I joined Sylvan full time as a director. I truly believe in the services we provide to the families in our communities, and I look forward to being part of the larger Sylvan family for years to come.
Gary Crayton
Tutor
Gary is an instructor in Midlothian, VA with a gift for working with kids. While Gary has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. He studied at Randolph-Macon College. When Gary isn’t working at Sylvan, you’ll find him cooking, reading, crafting, and hanging out with family and friends.
Matt Domer
Tutor
Matt is an instructor in Midlothian, VA with a gift for working with kids. While Matt has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in biology, social studies, and study skills tutoring. He studied at the College of William and Mary and the University of Richmond. While Matt isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him hiking, drawing, or listening to world history and foreign language podcasts.
Diana Maxwell
Tutor
Diana is an instructor in Midlothian, VA with a gift for working with kids. While Diana has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in SAT tutoring. She studied at Bowling Green University, Georgetown Law Center, and UVA. When Diana isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watercolor painting, glass fusing, and watching movies.
Rosa Davis
Tutor
Rosa is a tutor in Chesterfield, VA with a gift for working with kids. While Rosa has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in geometry tutoring. She studied at Norfolk State University. When Rosa isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading mysteries, working jigsaw puzzles, watching Jeopardy, playing games on her phone, and working in her flower garden.
Carole Justice
Tutor
Carole is a tutor in Midlothian and Richmond, VA with a gift for working with kids. While Carole has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She studied at Longwood, UVA, and VCU. When Carole isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, drawing portraits, or quilting.
Eugene Williams
Tutor
Eugene is a former middle and high school principal in Virginia with a gift for working with kids. While Eugene has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in English tutoring. He studied at Emory University and the University of Mary Washington. When Eugene isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him doing public speaking engagements and promoting his daughter’s painting and pottery business.
