Our tutors and staff in Lynchburg consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Lynchburg know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Sarah Mulligan
Center Director
As Assistant
Center Director, Sarah Mulligan leads the office for Sylvan of Lynchburg. A former educator, Sarah chose a career in the tutoring business because Sylvan aided her as a child and she wants to do the same for young students. She studied at Liberty University. When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading at local coffee shops or the Downtown Lynchburg Community Market.
Brandi Moore
Tutor
Brandi Moore is a retired middle school teacher of twenty-two years in Lynchburg, VA with a gift for working with kids. While Brandi has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. She studied at the University of Lynchburg. When Brandi isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her gardening or fossil and shell hunting.
Michael Bowen
Director
Michael Bowen has been the franchisee of Sylvan of Lynchburg and Sylvan of Danville since 2019. Michael grew up in Lynchburg and attended Holy Cross School and later UVA. He ran the centers through the various shutdowns and has seen the differences between covid and post covid for different ages.
