Our tutors and staff in Sandy consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Sandy know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Lynne Hudson
Executive Director/Owner
Lynne brings 20+ years of business and customer service experience to the four Sylvan Learning locations she owns in Utah. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Lynne has been a leader in a variety of industries including personnel and supplemental education. It is Lynne’s love of education and helping students realize their full potential that led her to Sylvan. When not at our centers, you are likely to find Lynne spending time with family and friends, hiking and enjoying outdoor time in the beautiful state of Utah.
Lindsay Kapetanov
Assistant Center Director
Director
Lindsay leads the team for Sylvan of Riverton and Sandy. As a former surgical center nurse, Lindsay has always loved caring for others. She was a Sylvan student 35 years ago and can relate to the struggles and victories that our students experience. She has truly found joy in her position at Sylvan. When Lindsay isn’t in one of our centers, she enjoys cooking, eating, theater, animals, and laughter.
Alex Tubbs
Assistant Center Director
Teaching has been Alex’s dream job since she was in the second grade. She earned her BFA and MAT from the University of Utah. She has taught at both the Eva Carlston Academy and the Oxford Academy. Alex feels strongly that teachers play a vital role in people’s lives, no matter what their age and loves the quote “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn”. When Alex isn’t working with students and families at Sylvan, she enjoys movies, animals, punch needling, and reading.
Lisa
Director of Education
Lisa oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Sandy. A former teacher in Chicago, Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. Lisa understands that no one learns the same way, and she adapts quickly to the needs of our students. When Lisa isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her gardening, traveling, scrapbooking, collecting antiques, and reading about American History.
Kristin
Tutor
Kristin enjoys tutoring in Sandy! She has always loved working with children. She has a Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders from BYU and 20 years experience working in preschool, Elementary School and Junior High School settings. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, the outdoors, and spending time with her eight children and grandchildren.
Allen
Tutor
Allen is a teacher in both our Sandy and Riverton centers, with a gift for working with kids on reading, study skills, ACT, and particularly math. Allen enjoys seeing students break math barriers and gain confidence in their learning capabilities. He used to teach in the school districts and is a licensed teacher. When Allen isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading or fishing.
Christopher
Tutor
Christopher is a teacher in our Sandy center. He became a tutor with Sylvan to help kids learn and understand new concepts, particularly in math. He has his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. Christopher has many interests and hobbies, including engineering, math, and US politics/history and enjoys time with his family, computer programming, movies, puzzles, and music.
Myra
Tutor
Myra tutors for Sylvan in our Sandy and Riverton centers and became a teacher because of her love of children. She has her degree in Early Childhood Education from BYU. Myra is inspired when a student finally understands a concept they have been struggling with and she experiences that daily at Sylvan. In her spare time, Myra enjoys reading, sewing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Kelsie
Tutor
Kelsie has her Masters of Elementary Education from Western Governors but her interest in becoming a teacher began with her time spent interacting with her 18 nieces and nephews. She spent time reading and doing art with them which led to her love of teaching. Kelsie enjoys drawing, writing stories, hiking, and exploring new places. She primarily teaches in our Riverton location but you may also see her in our other locations, too.
Lauren
Tutor
Lauren has a passion for helping others learn! She has her Bachelors of Education from BYU Idaho and teaches in our Riverton and Sandy centers. Lauren fits well with us here at Sylvan because she, too, believes learning should be personal. She feels strongly that all kids learn in different and unique ways. Lauren’s interests include the arts, science, and volleyball.
