Cerece Walker

Director of Education

Cerece Walker is currently serving as the Director of Education at Sylvan Learning, bringing with her a wealth of teaching and life experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Christianity from Houston Baptist University and is a certified educator with a Texas Teaching Certification in Generalist 4th-8th grade. Cerece is a dedicated and caring individual with strong English skills and a friendly demeanor, providing excellent support to families and teachers. Additionally, she is an accomplished author, having published a book chronicling her journey of faith. With her extensive background in education, office management, and interpersonal skills, Cerece is well-equipped to lead as the Director of Education, inspiring and motivating both students and staff to achieve their highest potential at Sylvan Learning.

Raul Pabon

Tutor - Math/Science Specialist

Raul, a highly skilled educator, is deeply committed to his students’ success. Holding multiple Texas certifications, including 8-12 Mathematics, 8-12 Composite Science, 4-8 Generalist, and 4-12 ELA as Second Language, he specializes in guiding and mentoring students in challenging subjects like Math and Science. Raul’s educational background includes degrees from Trinity University (Bachelor’s) and the University of Texas in Austin (PhD).Passionate about fostering a deeper understanding of complex subjects and improving academic performance, Raul draws on his unique industry experience to create meaningful connections between the classroom and real-world applications, enriching students’ learning experiences. He firmly believes in education as the transformative key to lifelong success and instills this philosophy in his students. At Sylvan, Raul offers a diverse range of programs, including Sylvan Advanced Math, Sylvan Homework Support in Math and Science. Sylvan SAT/ACT College Prep, and Sylvan Enrichment (STAAR and Enrollment Test Assessments).

Daniel Adair

Tutor - Reading/Writing Specialist

Danny Adair is a highly accomplished educator with a strong background in history and English. He holds a BA degree from Texas State in San Marcos and an M.Ed. from the prestigious University of Houston – Clear Lake. With 15 years of experience in the public education system, teaching elementary school in Pasadena ISD and Elgin ISD, Mr. Danny has become an expert in helping students thrive. Mr. Danny is renowned for his exceptional teaching methods, particularly in Reading and Writing, where his students consistently experience remarkable improvements in their learning journey. Witnessing their progress brings him the greatest joy and satisfaction. One of Mr. Danny’s specialties lies in assisting students in preparing for the Verbal and Reading sections of the SAT and ACT. Under his guidance and support, students gain the confidence and skills they need to excel in these critical exams. Linda Pabon

Tutor - Reading Education Specialist

Linda Pabon has been a tutor for Sylvan Learning center for almost 2 years. She recently retired from Alief Independent School District in Houston, Texas as an ESL (English as a Second Language) Specialist at the district level. She worked with teachers in different content areas throughout the district to develop strategies on how to teach their content to students whose first language is not English. She graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Geology and certification to teach English and Earth Science. Over the course of her 37 years in education, Ms. Linda has taught English and Earth Science at the middle and high school level in San Antonio, Austin and Houston, Texas. She has also done volunteer work teaching English to adults throughout the years. As a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center, Ms. Linda focuses on helping students in all grades to perfect their reading strategies not only to succeed but to excel in school.  

Renee Porter

Tutor - Early Literacy Education Specialist

Renee Porter is a retired educator with a wealth of experience and a strong passion for teaching literacy. Currently, she serves as a tutor at Sylvan and also conducts contract work scoring writing samples. With 28 years of dedicated service in Fort Bend ISD as an English teacher and librarian, Renee has honed her instructional skills and developed a deep understanding of effective teaching strategies for students of all grade levels. Her commitment to fostering a love for reading and empowering students through education is unwavering. Outside of her professional pursuits, Renee finds joy in her hobbies of reading, traveling, and gardening. Her diverse range of interests enriches her life and allows her to bring a well-rounded perspective to her educational roles. With her extensive background in education, coupled with her dedication and ability to connect with students, Renee is a valuable asset as a tutor and writing sample evaluator. Her passion for teaching literacy continues to positively impact the lives of those she works with.

Jarrett Lindsey

Assistant Center Director

Jarrett Lindsey is a dedicated and experienced educator with a passion for empowering students in the field of computer science. With a focus on student achievement, college readiness, and career development, Jarrett has made a significant impact in the education sector. With a background in computer science education, Jarrett has successfully bridged the gap between computer science and student success. By utilizing innovative curricula such as the “We_TeachCS” program and integrating a new Computer Science curriculum, Jarrett has increased AP-Exam test scores and guided numerous students through the FBISD Computer Science pathway. As a Center Director at Sylvan Learning, Jarrett brings extensive experience in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality customer service, and implementing performance-enhancing measures through personalized tutoring. With a commitment to collaboration and building productive relationships, Jarrett has worked closely with teachers, educational specialists, and school administrators to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Jarrett’s passion for education and commitment to student success make them a valuable asset to the Sylvan Learning team. Through their expertise in computer science education and dedication to empowering students, Jarrett inspires and equips students to thrive academically and reach their full potential.
