Joan Lovin

Center Director

As Center Director, Joan leads the center in daily operations and develops the center community outreach programs.  A former elementary education teacher, she chose a career in the tutoring business because she could see the difference a personalized approach makes with all students. Joan is a graduate of Bowling Green University, Ohio where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education.  When she is not at Sylvan, Joan enjoys reading a good book, scrap booking, or trying an new recipe.

Janet HIcks

Director of Education

As Director of Education, Janet oversees  the educational integrity of our programs and manages and trains our team of tutors in San Antonio. A former Science Teacher in Cibolo, Janet brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of North Central San Antonio.  She graduated from Texas A & M University . When Janet isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, walking her dogs, and watching flowers grow.

Mary Sanchez

Tutor-Reading, Math, Study Skills

Mary Sanchez is a enthusiastic tutor at the North Central Sylvan Learning Center of San Antonio with a gift for working with students from elementary to high school. While she has many tutoring talents, Mary finds the greatest joy watching students learn, grow and make connections that allow them to use their personal strengths to acquire new knowledge. She attended St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN where she received a Bachelor of Science and the Defense Language Institute, of Monterey, CA., where she received a Certification in Italian Language. When Mary is not at Sylvan, you will find her enjoying free time, baking, gardening and hiking.
