Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Pearland know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Rodney Barnes
Center Director/Owner
As Center Director and Owner, Rodney oversees all operations and manages the directors, facilitators, and students of the Pearland center. Prior to Sylvan, Rodney spent 30+ years doing General Management and Finance in the corporate sector. Rodney chose a career in the tutoring business because of his passion to help kids and the ability to impact their educational future. He studied at Lamar University where he earned a BA in Mechanical Engineering. When Rodney isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him spending quality time with his family.
Paige Sims
Director of Education
Paige is the Director of Education at the Sylvan Learning Center of Pearland. Paige helps oversee the educational integrity of our programs and ensures quality student experience. Paige is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and earned her masters degrees from Concordia University-Portland. She holds a teaching certificate in Mathematics 4-12. In her free time, Paige enjoys crocheting, gardening, and reading.
Jaclyn Bond
Assistant Director
As an Assistant Director, Jaclyn provides support with in-center operations, marketing, and contract services for the Sylvan Learning Center of Pearland. Jaclyn is a graduate of The College of New Jersey where she earned her Masters Degree in Teaching. She is certified to teach in Texas, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey. In her free time, Jaclyn enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with her family.
Mary Stepleton-Hitt
Certified Tutor
Mary is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center of Pearland with a gift for working with kids. While Mary has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading, Writing, and German. Mary is a certified to teach Secondary Education 6-12. In her free time, Mary enjoys reading, traveling, and cooking.
Anna Hickey
Certified Mathematics Tutor
Anna is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center of Pearland with a gift for working with kids. While Anna has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry. Anna is a graduate of the University of Oregon and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. In her free time, Anna enjoys quilting and enjoying quality time with friends and family.
