Alysha Herrera

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Alysha leads several of the Sylvan Learning Centers in the Houston area. Alysha is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Child Learning and Development. She also holds a teaching certificate in Generalist EC-6. In her free time, Alysha enjoys reading, collecting postcards and playing board games. At Sylvan, Alysha loves helping students find their “wow” moments.

Edna Neto

Director of Education

Edna holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, in the field of language in Portuguese and English, through a University in Brazil. Through her experiences, she found a love for teaching. After moving to the states, Edna began substituting in the local schools and became even more excited about shaping young minds. She has developed a particular passion for helping students be self-motivated and have a love for learning. Edna is very motivated to reach her goals and help others achieve the same. In her free time, she enjoys anything art related, riding her bike, and reading.

Shalana Dodson

SYLVAN CERTIFIED TUTOR

Shalana is a tutor at Sylvan Learning of Kingwood with a love of teaching all things Writing and English! While Shalana has a passion for English, she also is interested in cultural studies and music. Shalana has a Bachelor’s of Art in English and a Master’s in Adult Education from the University of Phoenix.

Crystal Wilhite

Certified Teacher

Crystal Wilhite is a military veteran and a graduate of Western Governor’s University and Middlebury Institute of International Studies. She is a lifelong learner with a passion for educating students from kindergarten to 6^th grade. Her positive attitude, kind spirit and adaptive nature leads her mission to support all students with academic success. In her free time Crystal enjoys reading, running, and tutoring ESL students.

Dr. Cynthia Abram

Certified Teacher

Dr. Cynthia Abram is a graduate of Prairie View University, and she completed her doctorate at Lake Charles University. She pursued a career in education to provide students with lifelong skills and to assist them in mastering difficult skills, the first time. Cynthia is most comfortable with working with students in kindergarten to 6^th grade. She is a caring and compassionate educator that enjoys helping others and reassuring all her students.

Jared Henderson

Certified Teacher

Jared Henderson received his bachelor’s from University of Houston Downtown. He specializes in teaching English as a second language and strives to help students reach their fullest potential. His passion is watching students grow over time through consistency and perseverance. Jared is a lifelong learner and strives to encourage students to be their best selves.

Robin Mouser

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Robin is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center of Kingwood with a gift for working with kids.  While Robin has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading and Writing.  Robin is a graduate of the University of Houston and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  In her free time, Robin enjoys reading, writing, and traveling.

Adam Pratt

Certified Teacher

Adam Pratt received his Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sciences from Cook College at Rutgers University. Adam is a compassionate and fun-loving tutor who has always felt called towards being an educator. He enjoys working with children and watching them grow and learn. In his free time, he likes to travel, go camping, and read a good book.

Nia Berry

Certified Teacher

Nia Berry is a graduate of Texas Southern University. She has a strong passion for literacy and teaching early literacy students. Nia specializes in English language arts, social studies and is exceptional with English language learners. She is funny, creative, and sociable. Outside of teaching she enjoys reading and gardening.

Myrna Velez

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Myrna is a tutor here at Sylvan of Kingwood. She is a graduate of University of St. Thomas with her master’s degree in education. Myrna wanted to be a teacher because she saw the need for our students needing so many things, and she could be the one that does help our students learn and grow. Myrna has worked with students of all ages but enjoys working directly with students in reading and writing. In her free time, Myna enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Mary Bibens

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Mary is a tutor here at Sylvan Learning of Kingwood with a passion for teaching young minds! While Mary has many tutoring talents, she loves teaching Reading, Math, and STAAR Prep. Mary is a graduate from Sam Houston State University! In her free time, Mary enjoys reading, writing, and cooking! Mary describes herself as caring, passionate, and fun.

Ryan Hillis

Certified Teacher

Ryan is an enthusiastic tutor who is passionate about relating to students as he shares his joy for mathematics. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is currently teaching CTE & robotics programs for high schoolers. Ryan has an analytical mind while always being authentic and patient with his students. In his free time, Ryan enjoys anime, basketball and football.
