Nancy Shrewsbury
Owner & Executive Director
A compassionate mother, wife, and retired educator has embarked on a new journey. With over 20-plus years as an educator, she decided to open multiple Sylvan Learnings Centers alongside her husband, Joe. Nancy received her BA in elementary education and M.Ed. concentration in reading. She is National Board Certified in literacy for elementary and middle education. Nancy believes that ALL children can learn! She dedicates her patient and caring spirit to seeing each child succeed past perceived limitations. It isn’t about CAN’T but YET! When she isn’t enjoying time with her children Josiah, Claire, and Grace, she loves to hike, indulge in a novel, and travel to experience new cultures.

Justice Martin
Center Director
Full of personality and passion, she is dedicated to helping children thrive and prosper academically. She received her BA in English literature and language from Winthrop University and currently studying to receive her MFA in Motion Pictures and Television from Academy of Arts University in San Francisco, CA. A former English and journalism high school educator, she believes ELA teaches students how to read, write, and communicate. When Justice is not at the center she loves to read fictional novels, write/direct screenplays, and cook!

Paul Brisbane
Tutor
Paul is a teacher in Lancaster, SC with a gift of fostering relationships and building skills with students. While Paul has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in ELA and Advanced Study Skills tutoring. He has taught for 23 years with a Masters and Doctorate in Education. When Paul isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him working out, watching movies, exploring the world, and learning new things consistently.

Debra Moore-Smith
Tutor
Debra is a current scientist and former teacher in South Carolina. With a love for science and kids she wants to use her gifts to strengthen STEM in our local community. While Debra has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math, science, robotics, and coding tutoring. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. When Debra isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, cooking, and watching science fiction.

Chasity Agurs
Tutor
Chasity Agurs, a recent graduate from the University of South Carolina double majored in Biochemistry and Spanish. Hitting the ground running, Chasity considers herself attentive and determined. She is eager to help students achieve their College Prep and academic goals. If Chasity is not at Sylvan Learning you can find her journaling, reading, and indulging in anything that relates to science.

Lindsay Bueno
Tutor
Lindsay is a teacher in Rock Hill, SC with a gift of patience and thinking outside the box when working with children. While Lindsay has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math, science, and college-prep tutoring. She studied at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. When Lindsay isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her traveling, reading mystery novels, spending time with her family and three nieces.
Craigshon Harrington
Tutor
Craigshon, a patient and insightful lover-of-education is currently pursuing a BA in secondary education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He enjoys working with both students and adults, helping them grow socially, academically, and emotionally. If he’s not at Sylvan Learning, you can find him watching sitcoms, fantasies, listening to music, and singing.
