Our tutors and staff in Indian Land consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Indian Land know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Lisa Scheve
Center Director
Lisa is originally from the North Shore of Chicago, IL. She earned her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Columbia International University and her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Trinity International University. She has over 25 years of experience as a teacher, Director of Communications, and educational leader. Lisa is passionate about student success and believes Sylvan provides high-quality student learning opportunities for all children. She is caring, and organized, and wants the best for everyone. Lisa looks forward to being an educational partner with the community and serving the students and parents of Indian Land, Waxhaw, Marvin, and Weddington!
Judy Reyes
Teacher
Judy has been in the education field for more than 30 years. She attended Miami Christian College in Miami, Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She began her teaching career as a 1st & 2nd grade teacher. Over the last 20 years, Judy homeschooled all four of her children. She committed much of her homeschooling time teaching in a local co-op, in which Judy taught a variety of classes for other homeschool children, as well as her own. Judy loves helping students at Sylvan achieve their “light bulb” moments, when a concept finally clicks! When not at Sylvan, Judy enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her family.
MaryKay Kelly
Teacher
MaryKay is a passionate middle school teacher with expertise in both mathematics and English language arts. Her love for education has taken her across the U.S., as she has taught in Arizona, Georgia, Washington, D.C., and North Carolina. Her college years were marked by a transformative experience studying abroad, sparking a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives. This passion for exploration has led her to travel extensively, enriching her understanding of the world. Beyond education and travel, MaryKay finds joy in the kitchen, experimenting with culinary creations that reflect her love for diverse flavors.
April Mack
Teacher & Administrative Support
April is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She also completed graduate courses in Educational Studies. In addition to teaching students at Sylvan, April also provides administrative support for the Director and other teachers. She has a passion for teaching students and enjoys helping students reach their learning goals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering at her church, reading, and listening to music. Mrs. Mack says Sylvan is just the place that fulfills her passion for helping students become successful academically and develop socially.
Sulochana Saravanan
Teacher
Sulochana (Sulo) has a Masters degree in Computer Applications. She has worked as a teacher for the Central Board of Secondary Education in India.
She is passionate about teaching and loves working with students. Sulo enjoys interacting with and encouraging students at Sylvan. She enjoys using the technology as an effective teaching tool. She believes Sylvan is a great place for students to reach their potential in a personal and caring learning environment.
