We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Heather Blake Bucy

Tutor

Director

Heather received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Youngstown State University. She brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Cranberry, having begun with Sylvan as a Center Director in July 2001. She is passionate about Sylvan and the difference the programs make in students’ lives. Heather is committed to providing families with quality service and supporting them throughout the education journey. Heather enjoys reading, traveling, the beach, and spending time with her friends and family.

Alison R

Tutor

Alison was born and raised in Butler, PA. She received her K-12 education from Butler Area School District. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Relations with a minor in Psychology. During her last semester in college, she decided to attend Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA, to obtain a Master of Education degree. She completed her degree in Early Childhood Education: PreK-4th and earned an add-on certification in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies for Core Content 4th-8th Grade. Alison is now in an all-online program to become a Certified Reading Specialist and Specialized Literacy Coach for Grades K-12. Alison enjoys working at Sylvan because the atmosphere is warm and welcoming among the staff and students in person, as well as the support from staff from afar. She experienced Sylvan from a student’s point of view during elementary school and can relate to students’ challenges when they struggle with particular skills. Alison understands the importance of providing support and guidance to help students build confidence and succeed academically. As an instructor, she is committed to understanding how each child learns so that she can help them make positive connections between home and school and ultimately help them become confident learners!

Kaleen Q

Tutor

Kaleen currently tutors at Sylvan and works as a building substitute in Freedom Area School District. Kaleen is certified in Elementary Education (grades K-6), but has also worked with all grade levels through subbing! Kaleen has years of subbing which also includes some long term positions. Kaleen has worked at another tutoring center as well, and loves that she gets to help students grow in their learning!
