Meet Our Team

Judy

Teacher, K-8

Judy has been a Sylvan teacher for 20 years! She is a retired K-6 ESL and classroom teacher who loves teaching reading, writing, math and study skills. Above all, she loves kids of all ages! Judy grew up in CA and even worked at Disneyland in college. She has lived in DC, Virginia, Rhode Island, and her very favorite, Oregon, since 1978.  You might find her on a a plane to FL to visit the OTHER Disney as well as her daughters and her two adorable grandsons. Come see Judy, but be prepared to smile, ’cause that’s what she does all the time!

Jonas C

Teacher, K-8

Director

Jonas is the Center Director of Sylvan of Beaverton. Jonas graduated from Oregon State with a degree in Mathematics. Jonas’s love of teaching math led him to Sylvan where his enthusiasm for learning is infectious. When Jonas is not working to support his students’ learning, you can find him playing basketball, reading science fiction, or jamming on his keyboard.

Andrew

Teacher, 6-12

Andrew  is a rock-star teacher who lives in Hillsboro, OR. Andrew has a gift for working with students. While he has many tutor talents, he finds the greatest joy in tutoring upper level math! Andrew studied mathematics at Oregon State University. When he isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing piano or studying the game of baseball.

Vincent

Teacher, 6-12

Vincent grew up in fertile farm country of the San Joaquin Valley of California. Vincent has taught English and ELD in public high schools in Central and Southern California, and has been a Sylvan Tutor for six years. He has lived Oregon for two years now. He and his fiancée enjoy nature walks and hiking all over Oregon. Vincent especially likes teaching Writing, SAT/ACT Prep, Algebra, and helping students prepare for college. In recent years, Vincent has had poetry, essays, and fiction published in variety of literary magazines and anthologies in the U.S. and in the U. K. When he is not at Beaverton Sylvan, he enjoys reading and collecting books and owns over 5000.

Audra B. & Amy P.

Directors/Owners

Amy and Audra are Co-Executive Directors/Owners of the Beaverton Sylvan. Amy has a business background in the corporate finance industry.  Audra is an educator who has been operating a Sylvan in Central Oregon for over 15 years. Together these two women are thrilled to be a part of the Beaverton team and continue this center’s long history of serving students in our community. (This was the first Sylvan to EVER open!)

Allison Faas

Teacher 6-12

Allison is a former classroom teacher with a diverse background, having taught high school social studies and language arts, along with substituting in nearly every subject for over seven years. Her teaching journey took her around the world, from Australia to Saudi Arabia. One of the highlights of her journey was leading a group of Model UN students to the historic city of St. Petersburg, Russia, an experience she’ll never forget.

Now settled in Portland with her husband and two dogs, Allison enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and—of course—traveling whenever she can.
