Our tutors and staff in Fairlawn consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Fairlawn know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Mrs. Krystle Nichols
Center Director / Owner
Director
As Executive Director, Krystle oversees sales and daily operations. Before joining Sylvan, Krystle taught in Stark County for ten years, at one of the top-performing schools. Krystle chose to be a part of the Sylvan team because of their belief in tailored education, where every student receives a differentiated plan, based on their current skill set. Krystle studied at Mount Vernon Nazarene University and earned a middle education degree. In addition, she earned two master’s degrees: one in differentiated curriculum and instruction and another in administration. When Krystle isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing sports or spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Mike Adair
Director of Education
Director
Mr. Mike is the Director of Education at Sylvan of Fairlawn. He oversees all students’ learning plans, works with Sylvan teacher, classroom teachers, and families to ensure all students are receiving the best supplemental education for each child’s individual needs.
Mr. Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree in English from The University of Cincinnati and his Master’s Degree in Teaching from Kent State University. Mr. Mike has been with Sylvan for over a decade, beginning his career as a tutor in 2013. Mr. Mike is loved by all, and is continuously engaging with students to help them thrive. At Sylvan of Fairlawn, Mr. Mike occasionally will hop back on the tutoring table and work with students in reading, math, writing, study skills, and ACT/SAT prep. His favorite thing about working at Sylvan is the students’ enthusiasm and their excitement when they finally understand a concept they had been struggling with.
Mrs. Ashley Harper

Director
Mrs. Ashley is a part-time director at Sylvan of Fairlawn. She spends her time meeting with families to go over data and make sure students are receiving the quality support they deserve.
Prior to Sylvan, Mrs. Ashley served as an educator in Stark County for ten years, teaching 6th Grade Math, 8th Grade Math, and Algebra I while also instructing ESL courses online to international learners. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education: Math, Language Arts, & K-12 Reading and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Gifted & Talented Education. While tutoring, she finds the greatest joy in helping students explore new learning strategies to support their learning styles and master previously challenging skills. When not at Sylvan, she loves spending time with her husband and daughter.
Ms. Aniliss Woodford

Director
Ms. Aniliss is a part-time director/community liaison for Sylvan of Fairlawn. She spends her time working in the center, while also being present in the community for schools, businesses, and churches to have strong community relationships.
When Ms. Aniliss isn’t at Sylvan, she is working toward her bachelors degree in business at Kent State University. Outside of work and school, Aniliss enjoys hiking with her dog, reading, and taking pictures.
Ms. Jessica
Teacher
Ms. Jessica is a current student at the University of Akron, enrolled in the education program. She has a passion to work with kids, and her favorite area to support students is in all levels of math. When Jessica isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her studying, traveling, or spending time with her family.
Ms. Brittany
Teacher
Ms. Brittany is a K-5 reading, writing, and math teacher at Sylvan of Fairlawn. She comes to Sylvan with a background in preschool, first, second, and third grades experience in the classroom. Currently, Ms. Brittany teaches second grade at Hinckley Preparatory Academy.
Ms. Brittany graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and received her K-12 Reading Endorsement to help students become more successful readers.
Ms. Brittany lives in Medina with her husband, Mike, and son, Lucas, so when Ms. Brittany isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her teaching her 2nd graders, or spending time with her family.
Ms. Carol
Teacher
Ms. Carol is a sweet, patient, kind-hearted teacher who has worked at Sylvan for many years. She is a certified teacher at one of the local school districts, and she enjoys seeing her current and former students at Sylvan for tutoring from time to time. Ms. Carol is a well-rounded instructor who tutors students in math, reading, writing, and ACT/SAT. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Ms. Erin
Teacher
Ms. Erin is a former kindergarten teacher and currently homeschools her children. She studied at Bluffton University for her undergraduate degree and obtained her master’s degree from Walden University in elementary reading instruction Ms. Erin has a passion for teaching little ones, and she has a large skillset to help early readers become successful readers.
When Ms. Erin is not at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family, baking yummy desserts, reading good books, or crocheting.
Mr. Jon
Teacher
Mr. Jon is a graduate of Case Western and has a gift of working with students of all ages. While Jon has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in working with students in math. When Jon isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing with his dog and camping.
Mr. Duane
Teacher
Mr. Duane is a retired math teacher who loves working with upper-level math students. The more challenging the math is, the more excited he gets. In Mr. Duane’s free time, he enjoys swimming competitively and being involved with his church.
Mr. Nick
Teacher
Mr. Nick is a small group math teacher in Akron, Ohio, with a gift of working with kids of all ages. While Nick has many teaching talents, he finds the greatest joy in ACT tutoring. Nick received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and his Master’s at Akron University in Instructional Technology. Nick has worked at Sylvan for 15 years focusing on ACT/SAT, Reading, Writing, Study Skills, Math, Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Reading. When Nick isn’t at Sylvan, he enjoys hiking, attending sporting events, and spending time with friends and family.
Ms. Sally
Teacher
Ms. Sally is a retired intervention specialist who has a passion for working with early readers and teaching the fundamentals of early reading literacy. In Ms. Sally’s free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Ms. Shayla
Teacher
Ms. Shayla is a current teacher at Sylvan of Fairlawn working predominantly with students in grades 4th – 9th. While Ms. Shayla has many teaching talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring.
Ms. Shalya has extensive background in the science field, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron in Biochemistry. When Ms. Shayla isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time in nature or playing with her son.
Ms. Kaelyn
Teacher
Ms. Kaelyn is a recent graduate from The Ohio State University in Biology and Animal Sciences. Upon graduation, Ms. Kaelyn is pursuing a law degree and is actively studying for her law exam so she can enroll in the University of Akron’s Law School.
When Kaelyn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her studying, finding new coffee spots in town, and playing tennis.
Ms. Tiffany
Teacher
Ms. Tiffany is a veteran teacher at her local Stark County school. She currently works in the middle school setting and has a background in special education. Ms. Tiffany predominantly works with students up to grade 9 in reading, writing, and math. She has a passion for helping her students feel confident in themselves, all while letting them see that working hard pays off! In Ms. Tiffany’s spare time, she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her two children.
Mr. Stefaan
Teacher Assistant
Mr. Stefaan is one of our student teachers at Sylvan of Fairlawn. He primarily works with elementary and middle school math students. In his free time, he enjoys being with friends and family and watching sports.
Ms. Zayda
Teacher Assistant
Ms. Zayda is a teacher assistant from Akron, Ohio. She is a current track athlete at her local high school. When Zayda isn’t at school learning, you’ll find her studying or on the track field.
