Our tutors and staff in Alamogordo consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Alamogordo know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Cathy Jackson
Executive Director
Cathy is a career educator and former principal. She recently retired after 28 years in education, 9 of which were as a school administrator. She has a BS in Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching. As the Center Executive Director for Sylvan Learning Center-Alamogordo, Cathy leads the day-to-day operations. When Cathy is not at Sylvan you will find her with her family and 6 grandkids. She also loves her hobby of working in her studio quilting.
David Borunda
Director Business Development
David is Director of Business Development for Sylvan Learning Center serving all of Otero & Lincoln Counties. He is a lifelong resident of Alamogordo, graduating from Alamogordo Senior High in 1988. He went to New Mexico Highlands University on a baseball scholarship. He was on the Alamogordo Public Schools Board for 8 years. David has been married for 30 years and with his wife raised 4 daughters. He has been in communications for 30 years; including serving Verizon for 14 years. When not serving the community David enjoys baseball/softball and the outdoors with his family.
Krishna Borunda
Lead Teacher
Krishna is the lead teacher for Alamogordo Sylvan Learning Center serving all of Otero & Lincoln Counties. She is currently an Alamogordo Public Schools teacher and has been doing so for 16 years (since 2006). She graduated from Alamogordo Senior High in 1991 and graduated from NMSU with a Bachelor of Education in 2006. She is also the Big Brother Big Sister facilitator at her current elementary school. When she is not working in the classroom or with Sylvan she enjoys watching her daughter play softball and spending time with her grandkids and family.
Sasha Rodriguez
Certified Teacher/Tutor
Sasha graduated from Independence HS in Arizona and graduated from NMSU with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2010. She also became a USAF Reserve team where she worked as a medical tech for 4 years. She is currently a teacher with Alamogordo Public Schools and is in her 10th year of teaching. She loves working with students and watching them grow. When she is not teaching or tutoring she likes exercising; lifting weights, and doing anything health/fitness-related. And of course, she loves being with her family the most.
Sheri Stafford
Certified Teacher/Tutor
Sheri is a tutor in Alamogordo, NM, and has a gift for working with young scholars. Sheri has been a teacher with Alamogordo Public Schools since 2010. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education as well as a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. When she is not working with our young scholars you will find her watching her daughter play softball or volleyball, hiking, and/or taking part in all of the amazing things in New Mexico.
Jessica Sandoval
Certified Teacher/Tutor
Jessica is a NMSU Graduate. She has been teaching for more than two decades. She has taught in Alamogordo for 16+ years. She enjoys all subjects, but Math is her favorite. When she is not teaching for Alamogordo Public Schools or tutoring for Sylvan Alamogordo she is spending time with her 3 girls and husband at UNM, on the tiger soccer field, or watching her youngest daughter cheer.
