Katelyn O'Brien
Center Director
As Center Director, Katelyn manages the overall customer experience, sales, and marketing at Sylvan of GC. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations to ensure a quality education experience for our Sylvan families. A former teacher, Katelyn chose a career in the tutoring business because she has a passion for education and loves seeing the look on children’s faces when they feel successful. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education at West Virginia University and has earned National Board Certification. When Katelyn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her hanging out with her daughter, spending time with family, and playing with her English Bulldogs.
Suzan O'Brien
Director of Education
Suzan overseas the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Garrett County. A veteran elementary teacher, Suzan brings decades of instructional experience to Sylvan of Garrett County. Her passion for reading has developed into the mission of igniting a spark among students by getting books in their hands. She graduated form West Virginia University with both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary/Early Childhood Education. When Suzan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her grandkids, caring for her three dogs, gardening, and reading.
Collen DuBose
Tutor
Collen DuBose has been an educator in public schools for 7 years. During this time he taught English Language Arts, Art, Forensics, Economics, History and Government. He coached Varsity sports for 6 years. He has a Master’s in Special Education and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Media Design. Collen has been a creative person in his free time for his entire life. He enjoys drawing and painting.
Matthew Marsh
Tutor
Matthew is a college student at Frostburg State University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Matthew enjoys the outdoors, swimming, and hiking. He was part of multiple robotics teams in high school and enjoys building and coding. Matthew has been tutoring for three years, and loves helping students overcome problems and become confident in their abilities.
Kameron Brooks
Tutor
Kameron has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s in School Counseling from Frostburg State University. He loves math and statistics and has lots of classroom experience. Kameron makes learning fun for his students!. In his free time, he likes to hang out with his family and friends, play video games, and watch sports.
Tracy Toothman
Tutor
Tracy recently retired from 30 years as a public educator. She has a master’s degree in Education from Frostburg State University and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education. She has taught all levels of middle and high school mathematics. She enjoys helping students become more confident in their math skills! In her free time she enjoys baking, reading, working out, and spending time with her family.
Paula Streets
Tutor
Paula has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Frostburg State University. She taught for over 30 years in Garrett County and loves helping young learners grow! In her free time, Paula enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dog. She also enjoys yoga, being outdoors, and watching sports.
