Meet Our Team

Rosina LeBlanc

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Rosina leads all business operations for Sylvan of Danvers and Woburn, MA, and ensures that the centers and their staff have the support and resources they need. Rosina chose a career in the tutoring business because she believes learning how to learn is the most important skill a person can obtain. She studied at Southern NH University. When Rosina isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family and cats.

Lisa Spinale

Center Director

As Center Director, Lisa is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for Sylvan of Woburn and ensuring the educational quality of the program. A former preschool teacher, Lisa chose a career in the tutoring business because it gives her an opportunity, outside of the classroom, to help students achieve academic success. She studied Elementary Education at Assumption College. When Lisa is not at Sylvan, you will find her spending time with her family and friends, reading, and baking/cooking.

Mary Adams

Assistant Director of Education

Mary is the Assistant Director of Education in the Woburn and Danvers location. Mary studied at Saint Michael’s College. Mary enjoys working with elementary and middle school students. When Mary isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, and getting outdoors with her husband, and their dog Lucy as much as possible. She also loves spending time at home with their cats, Oliver and Lyla, curled up reading a good book or is always up for a good movie!

Jess Brennan

Tutor

Jess is a middle school English teacher in Lynn, MA. They studied at Salem State University and have teaching experience ranging from middle school through adult education. They enjoy helping students feel successful with their studies but especially enjoy writing tutoring! When Jess isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find them making costumes or reading a new book.

Wendy Renna

Tutor

Wendy is a 4th-grade teacher in Woburn, MA. Wendy has many tutoring talents, but she finds the greatest joy in math and reading tutoring. She studied at Bridgewater State College. When Wendy is not at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends.

Jessie Anderson

Tutor

Jessie graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a Bachelor of Arts in child development and family relations. She has experience tutoring college students, adult learners, and elementary students in schools and adult learning centers. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking on the beach, and bike riding.

Jerry Freedman

Tutor

Jerry is a teacher at Bedford High School. Jerry has a Bachelor of Arts in Math and a master’s degree in Computer Science from Umass/Amherst and fulfilled the requirements for a “degree in Economics. In Jerry’s free time, he enjoys playing his trumpet and guitar.  Jerry also enjoys watching math YouTube videos.

Alex Surro

Tutor

Alex is a second-grade Special Education teacher in Newburyport, Ma, and loves working at Sylvan. In 2021, he received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Framingham State University and received his master’s degree in Special Education from Merrimack College shortly after. For almost a year and a half, Alex has enjoyed working and connecting with so many unique students. When he’s not at Sylvan, he enjoys creative writing and going on walks.

Susan Carroll

Tutor

Susan is a retired teacher from Lynnfield and Matignon high schools in Ma. She taught all grades, from Skills Development to AP English literature and composition. Tutoring MCAS, SAT, and college essay writing is an additional interest. Susan has a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Albertus Magnus College and an MAT with a concentration in Secondary English teaching from Emmanuel. She loves working with kids as they discover their potential. When not tutoring, Susan is an avid reader and and enjoys classes at her local YMCA.

Gina earned her Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from Providence College in 2016, and her Masters in Education from Merrimack College in 2019. She has taught a range of subjects at the middle school level, but her specialty is English Language Arts. She enjoys helping students gain confidence in reading and writing in particular. This is her first year as a Reading Tutor at Sylvan Learning of Woburn. Gina’s favorite pastimes include spending time with her family, reading, writing, and traveling internationally.

Beth has experience teaching elementary students at Classical Academies in both Colorado Springs, and New Haven, CT. She enjoys helping students grow to new heights in many subjects, but her current focus is in Reading and Writing. When she is not tutoring, she loves to explore new places on her bike, in her kayak, or hiking new trails.

Sarah White

Tutor

Sarah is a first-grade teacher. She has taught first grade in a few public school districts in the North Shore. Sarah has her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Salem State and a master’s in Elementary Education from Merrimack College. One of Sarah’s favorite parts of teaching is helping students become more confident readers. When Sarah is not teaching, she enjoys family vacations to different places, including Disney World. She also likes to spend time with her two dogs, Winnie and Roo.

Teresa Hardman

Tutor

Teresa currently works in the Woburn School district. Although she has a talent for and loves teaching all kinds of math, Teresa finds the greatest joy in SAT tutoring. She studied at the University of Manchester in the UK. When Teresa isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her taking long walks, at the mall with her teenage kids, or in winter snow-shoeing.

Suzanne previously worked as a teacher in Chelsea, MA. With her tutoring talents and gift for working with children, Suzanne joined Sylvan as a reading teacher. She earned her degree at Salem State. When Suzanne isn’t at Sylvan, you will find her playing trivia and running.

Melissa Cron

Tutor

Melissa joined the Sylvan team, bringing along her passion for math and love for reading. Melissa enjoys sharing her excitement for math with students of all ages. She earned her degree at UMass Amherst. When Melissa isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys spending time playing video games, coding, and solving logic puzzles.
