Margaret Maffett
Senior Director of Education/Center Director
Margaret is a retired educator after 38 years in the classroom. She possesses a Masters of Education degree from Northwestern State University and eagerly applies her understanding of the education process to helping students at Sylvan of Alexandria. She is caring and ready to assist parents with the understanding of their child’s progress as they experience growth through Sylvan’s academic tutoring programs! She resides in Pineville and enjoys her family time and helping teens at her church.
Michelle Norris
Instructor
Ms. Michelle is from Deville and graduated from Louisiana College with a BA in English Education. She has been teaching for over 27 years with the last 21 years at Buckeye High School. She has been a tutor at Sylvan since 2002 and currently teaches Academic Reading, Beginning Reading, Study Skills, and Academic Writing. She serves as our Sylvan of Alexandria Lead Teacher for Saturday instruction. When she’s not teaching, you will likely find her at Disney World with her daughter Caitlin! She has four spoiled cats – Tink, Sass, Nala, and Simba along with three granddogs!
Leslie Smith
Instructor
An outstanding math teacher in the Rapides school system, Ms. Leslie shares her skills with our Sylvan students, primarily providing Homework Support and ACT Prep in math.
Kenya Sasser
Instructor
Ms. Kenya began her teaching journey as a kindergarten instructor with over 20 years of experience in elementary education. She has a passion for helping all children reach their potential coupled with love to challenge students to be curious and take chances when learning.
Stephen Maffett
Instructor
Mr. Maffett has taught in many different institutions of higher learning such as elementary, middle, and high school settings, but his favorite teaching assignment would be High School Math. He is currently pursuing his educational leadership certification (i.e. school administration) but still enjoys being remembered as an educator who consistently helps students to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.
Tracy Linscomb
Instructor
Ms. Tracy is an accomplished and qualified instructor with experience in primary and secondary learning environments as well as college-level instruction. She is extremely passionate about encouraging of her students with respect to the development of their educational skills and has a zest for being a lifelong learner. She brings both experience and life skills application to facilitate the necessary outcomes for the students to be successful.
Logan Duff
Tutor
Mr. Duff is a Math and Science tutor with an awesome gift for working with the youth. While Mr. Duff has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in tutoring any or all subjects. When Mr. Duff isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him donating his time through community service projects.
Sarabjit K. Badwal
Instructor
Mrs. Badwall has a wealth of experience teaching both disciplines in Math and Computer Science. She has a great passion for teaching children to have a love for education and how it can afford many opportunities for their future. When she isn’t providing educational instruction for her students, you can find her spending time with her two daughters and enjoying some of her favorite activities like swimming and dancing.
