Sarah

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Sarah oversees Indiana centers in Mishawaka, Elkhart, Merrillville, Schererville, Valparaiso, Fishers, Carmel, West Indianapolis, South Indianapolis, Fort Wayne North, and Fort Wayne South, and four Florida centers in Clermont, Ocoee, Dr. Phillips and Kissimmee. She thoroughly enjoys working with all of the students and their families. Sarah studied at Cedarville University.  When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and her two beautiful daughters.

Kent

Center Director

Welcome to Sylvan Learning Center! My name is Kent Kolbow, and I am the owner and one of the directors. I received my college education in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During my educational experience, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Math with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology. I also earned an endorsement in education. During college, I taught at Sylvan Learning centers in Fort Wayne, and within a few years, became the Director. In 1997, I decided to purchase the Sylvan centers in Elkhart and Mishawaka. I have since had the opportunity to purchase nine additional centers in Indiana. My goal through working with Sylvan is “Success with Every Student.”

Jill

Director of Student Advancement

As Director of Student Advancement, Jill helps guide students and parents from the initial visit through their entire stay at Sylvan by making sure each student gets what he/she needs through an individualized program. She finds joy in building relationships with the families and seeing the students gain confidence while learning. Jill has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Master’s Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from Huntington University. She also taught in the classroom for 13 years. When Jill isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her taking a walk or putting a puzzle together.

Zac

Director of Student Advancement

As Director of Student Advancement, Zac aids teachers and administrators in their pursuit to reach and teach students for Sylvan of Fort Wayne South. As an English adjunct for several local universities, Zac chose a career in the tutoring business because he recognized a deep need for students to encounter a judgement-free and helpful space to work through challenging concepts outside of the classroom. Zac studied at Moody Bible Institute where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and received his Master of Arts in English literature from Purdue Fort Wayne. When he is not at Sylvan, you’ll find Zac writing poetry and reading various books.

Grace

Center Director

As Center Director, Grace welcomes new families and helps them begin their Sylvan journey to success. Grace finds the greatest joy in meeting students, finding their individual strengths and talents, and developing a relationship with each student and their families. She studied at Huntington University. When Grace isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with family and gardening.

Anne

Tutor

Anne is a 4th-grade teacher in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a gift for working with kids. While Anne has many tutoring talents,  she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She studied at the University of St Francis. When Anne isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with friends and family and watching a lot of TV!

Rhianna

Tutor

Rhianna is an elementary teacher in Huntington, Indiana with a gift for working with kids. While Rhianna has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Reading tutoring. She studied at Ball State.  When Rhianna isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading with her cat, listening to music, or crafting.

Hannah

Tutor

Hannah is a reading tutor at Sylvan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a gift for working with kids. While Hannah has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring reading students. She studied at Purdue Fort Wayne. When Hannah isn’t at tutoring, you’ll find her in her 5th grade classroom!

Geri

Tutor

Geri is a Math tutor in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She has a gift for working with children. Geri has many tutoring talents. She finds the greatest joy in Math tutoring. When Geri isn’t at Sylvan, she can be found gardening, experimenting with computer coding, and doing cross-stitch.

Ashley

Tutor

Ashley is a math, reading, SAT, and ACT tutor at Sylvan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a gift for working with students of all ages. While Ashley has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching SAT students. She studied at Ball State University for her undergraduate degree and at Purdue Fort Wayne for her graduate studies. When Ashley isn’t at tutoring, you’ll find her cozied up at home with a good book or two!

Emily

Tutor

Emily is a math and reading tutor at Sylvan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a gift for working with kids. While Emily has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in phonics tutoring. She studied at St. Mary-of-the-Woods. When Emily isn’t at tutoring, you’ll find her baking sourdough bread.

Helen

Tutor

Ms. Helen is a teacher at Sylvan in Fort Wayne with a gift for working with kids. While she has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in assisting students in developing and strengthening their math, reading, and writing skills.  Ms. Helen studied at Ball State University and Purdue Fort Wayne. When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, spending time with friends, gardening in good weather, and spending time with her children and new puppy, Fynn.

Zach

Tutor

Zach is a math and reading tutor at Sylvan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a gift for working with kids. While Zach has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. He studied at Indiana Tech. When Zach isn’t at tutoring, you’ll find him spending time with his twins and teaching in his 5th grade classroom.
