Pamela Lee
Owner & Director of Education
Pamela Lee is the owner of the Sylvan center in Kahala and oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors. A former teacher, Pamela brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Kahala. She graduated from Northridge University in Education. When Pamela isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her paddle boarding or exercising in zumba, yoga or aerobics.
Sam Kim
Owner & President
As President, Sam manages and operates the business at the Sylvan center in Kahala. Besides Sylvan, Sam works for Houghton Street Partners, a private equity firm, where he is Head Partner in the Korea office. Sam studied at Harvard Business School, MIT and at USC. When Sam isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find Sam traveling throughout Asia and on the golf courses around Hawaii.
Kehaunani Gunderson
Tutor
Kehau is a tutor at Sylvan Kahala. She studied Human Biology at Stanford University. She has a passion for adolescent development and health education and has been involved in non-profit organizational work focusing on health education.
Malie Hirao
Tutor
Malie is a tutor in Honolulu, HI with a gift for working with kids. While Malie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching writing and beginning reading. She earned her BA in English Literature from UH West Oahu and her MPA in Public Administration from UH Manoa. When Malie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her grandsons, watching Korean dramas, or tutoring at Malama Honua Public Charter School.
Caroline Nadalin
Tutor
Caroline is a tutor at Sylvan Kahala. She has a BA from University of Hawaii at Manoa. She teaches robotics, reading, Japanese and ESL for Sylvan. She’s fluent in both Japanese and English. When she’s not at sylvan she is taking care of animals or travelling.
Noenoe Barney-Campbell
Tutor
Noenoe is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center in Kahala and has been working at Sylvan for over 15 years. Noenoe has a gift for working with kids and enjoys tutoring all subjects. She enjoys finding different ways to make learning fun. Noenoe has masters degree in teaching and Pacific Island Studies and has studied Hawaiian History and Hawaiian Language. When she is not at Sylvan, she enjoys writing and spending time with her grandsons.
Olivia Williams
Tutor
Olivia is a tutor at Sylvan Kahala. She tutors students of all ages and levels in a variety of subjects. Olivia is from the Caribbean Islands and loves traveling. Outside of Sylvan, she likes to play a variety of musical instruments: piano, percussion, guitar, ukulele, viola and cello.
Daniel Okubo
Tutor
Daniel is a tutor at Sylvan Kahala. Daniel teaches students of all ages and levels in a variety of subjects. Daniel loves math and helping students develop a love for math. Daniel went to the University of Hawaii at Manoa and HPU.
Brian Kim
Tutor
Brian is a tutor at Sylvan Kahala and is at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His major is Engineering and he specializes in teaching mathematics, SSAT prep, and homework support. When he’s not at Sylvan, Brian likes to learn languages and go boating.
Sara Matsumura
Tutor
Sara is a tutor at Sylvan Kahala. She is at the University of Hawaii at Manoa studying English and Spanish. She teaches all subjects, but specializes in reading tutoring. When she’s not at Sylvan, she enjoys going outdoors, visiting the humane society, and spending time with friends.
