Owner

Welcome to Sylvan Learning Center! My name is Kent Kolbow, and I am the owner and one of the directors. I received my college education in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During my educational experience, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Math with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology. I also earned an endorsement in Education. Throughout college, I taught at Sylvan Learning centers in Fort Wayne, and within a few years, became the director. In 1997, I decided to purchase the Sylvan centers in Elkhart and Mishawaka. I have since had the opportunity to purchase nine additional centers in Indiana, four in Florida, and five in Maryland. My goal through working with Sylvan is “Success with every student.”

Sarah

Chief Operating Officer/ Owner

As Chief Operating Officer & Owner, Sarah oversees eleven centers in Indiana (Mishawaka, Elkhart, Merrillville, Schererville, Valparaiso, Fishers, Carmel, Plainfield, Greenwood, Fort Wayne North, & Fort Wayne South), four Florida centers (Clermont, Ocoee, Dr. Phillips & Kissimmee), and five centers in Maryland (Bel Air, Crofton, Catonsville, Timonium, & Columbia). She thoroughly enjoys working with all of the students and their families. Sarah studied at Cedarville University.  When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and her two beautiful daughters.

As the Center Director at Sylvan of Ocoee, Kevin leads a team of dedicated educators whose collective goal is the success of every child. Originally from Broward County, Kevin was a middle school and elementary school teacher. He attended Florida Atlantic University (Go Owls!) and earned his bachelor’s degree History. He enjoys meeting with families and working towards students’ success. In his free time, Kevin will be at home with his wife, taking his dogs to the park, or riding a roller coaster.

Originally from upstate New York, Jenna relocated to Florida for college. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern Florida College. She enjoys working with kids and is very excited to build student programs and help with all the learning needs of families in the Ocoee area. When she is not at Sylvan, she is home cuddling with her chihuahua Toro, or reading a book!

Emily is a first grade teacher in Winter Garden, FL with a gift for working with kids. While Emily has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She studied at the University of Florida. When Emily isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her at the beach or reading a book.

Tanyika is an ESE teacher in Orlando, FL with a gift for working with kids. While Tanyika has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in ELA tutoring. She studied at the University of Phoenix and LSU. When Tanyika isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her, enjoying the beach or the hammock in her backyard!
