Jane

Center Director/ Director of Education

Jane graduated from The University of Liverpool with a B.Ed. (Hons), in Education, Physical Education and English. After completing her teaching career as a department chair, she moved into corporate life and geared her passion for teaching and mentoring toward building successful teams within corporations. Most recently she headed up two educational companies, Dorking Kindersley, an educational publisher, and Discovery Toys, an educational toy company. She then joined Sylvan Learning, (corporate), as President of their early learning division, before buying her own center in 2009. She is very hands-on, often found in local schools working as a team with teachers and administrators, instructing at a table at the center to remain hands-on with programs and current students, and mentoring students of all ages. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her two sons and three large dogs, enjoys traveling, speaking French, cycling, skiing, tennis, and is a rather vocal Baltimore Raven’s fan! 

Gail

Reading/Writing Instructor

Gail has worked for Sylvan of Melbourne for almost 20 years. She is originally from New York. She has a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and a master’s from Queens College. She has also attended U.C.F, Rollins College, and F.I.T for graduate level courses and endorsements. Gail taught at both public and private schools in New York, and is currently an elementary teacher at Sherwood Elementary in Melbourne. In her spare time she loves to spend time with family and work on creating miniature sets.

Heather

Reading/Math Instructor

Heather joined Sylvan of Melbourne in 2014. She is a Florida native and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Her teaching experience includes teaching 3rd and 4th grades and serving as an aide for the Exceptional Education department. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family, dance, and go to the beach.

Evan

Math Instructor

Evan grew up in Brevard County and graduated from Viera High School. He has a Bachelor of Actuarial Science degree from Florida State University and is continuing his studies in Chemical Engineering at Eastern Florida State College. Evan joined Sylvan of Melbourne in 2015 and teaches mathematics and S.T.E.M. programs. While Evan has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in mathematics tutoring. He spends most of his free time with his Boxer and listening to audio books.

Ben has been at Sylvan of Melbourne since 2010, occupying several different roles during this time, including test administrator, assistant director, and instructor. He currently works as a math and reading instructor. Ben holds a degree in Biomedical Sciences, and is currently studying nursing at Eastern Florida State College. Ben enjoys working with students of a variety of ages, and finds it easy to connect with them because he believes he’s still a big kid himself. When Ben isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him mountain biking, exercising, reading, or studying to become a nurse.
