Our tutors and staff in Mission Viejo consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Mission Viejo know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Kulvinder Griffin
Executive Director
Kulvinder Griffin received her Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Credential at Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. She taught grades three through five before becoming a Reading Recovery teacher. Kulvinder has been with Sylvan for over fifteen years in the positions of Teacher, Test Administrator, Director of Education and Center Director in the Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Claremont, Glendora and Chino centers. As the new owner of the Corona Center, Kulvinder is very excited to work with the students, parents, and the community. When not working, you will find Kulvinder trying to keep up with her two young sons Brycen and Shane.
Esmeralda Iribe
Director of Eductation
Esmeralda received her Bachelor’s of Science in Neuroscience from the University of California, Riverside in 2022. She has worked alongside Sylvan since 2019, starting as a Teaching Assistant and now as a Lead Teacher. She loves bringing some fun into learning for her students and getting to know all the families. When she’s not at Sylvan, you can find Esme reading, running, or finding new ways to entertain her two cats.
Brian Lim
INSTRUCTOR
Brian is a husband and father who graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with an Economics degree and English minor. He returned to Cal Poly Pomona to get his teaching credential and has taught for the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Brian currently works as a Paraeducator in Mission Viejo and has worked for Sylvan since the fall of 2022. Brian really enjoy working for Sylvan because he gets to work with students in more of a small group and individual basis. In his free time, he likes going out to fancy restaurants “…when I can afford it”, and likes to walk his dog Ginger. He also love to get a little extra sleep whenever he can!!!
Sharon Keener
INSTRUCTOR
Sharon received her bachelor’s degree in Applied Liberal Arts from Concordia University in Irvine, California. She is a credentialed teacher who has taught Fourth Grade in Saddleback Valley Unified School District, and Second Grade in the Irvine Unified School District, where she also taught Special Education for three years. Sharon has worked for Sylvan since 2006, working as a Director of Education for Sylvan in Laguna Niguel and as a teacher in Mission Viejo. She has a lifelong passion for helping students achieve academic success. In her free time, Sharon enjoys reading, researching genealogy and being a Stage Manager.
Rumsha Mussani
INSTRUCTOR
Rumsha is currently studying as a biology major at Santiago College. This is her first year working at Sylvan. Rumsha loves working with children and talking with them during transition time. When she’s not at Sylvan, Rumsha likes to spend her time binge watching TV shows and taking strolls on the beach. Rumsha also loves spending quality time with her friends and family.
