Amy Wagner

Director of Education

Amy has been with Sylvan Learning Center since March of 2010. One of the reasons she loves working for Sylvan is watching the transformation of the children into successful and confident students. Amy attended Orange Coast College and received an AA degree in Education in 2004. She transferred to Cal State Long Beach in 2004 and graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts and Multiple Subject Credential for K-8 with an authorization to teach 9th grade Algebra in 2007. Amy and her husband recently welcomed their first child and love spending time with her. Some of her hobbies include bike riding, going to the beach, spending time with her family and scrapbooking.

Morgan Bocca

Director of Education

Morgan’s experience teaching in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms has readily prepared her for the Director of Education role with Sylvan. Morgan graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Language Arts. Through her teaching career, she was the Gifted and Talented representative, Instructional Technology Representative, and Team Leader. She has a passion for student success and connecting with children of all ages! Be sure to check out her collection of children’s books next time you pop in her office!

Kara Drayer

Tutor

Kara is the Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center of Long Beach. Kara’s job is to make sure student programs fit their learning needs and to keep open contact with parents and teachers to provide a strong support system that allows students to achieve success. With eight years of teaching experience in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade, she understands the classroom setting and the needs of students, from the rigorous CORE curriculum to how to prepare them for state standardized testing. Kara believes that with a strong foundation in the basic skills, students will gain confidence and strength to take on more challenging tasks and this will build a lifelong love of learning. Outside the center, Kara can be found paddling outrigger on the ocean or attempting to paddle board. She also enjoys delicious foods and trips to exotic places. As a once struggling reader, she understands the stress and frustration that students and parents can feel. Kara knows, with support and understanding, all students can be successful!

Ryan Andosca

Tutor

Ryan is a Math and Science teacher in Long Beach, CA with a gift for working with kids. While Ryan has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in physics tutoring. He has his B.S. in mathematical physics from UC Merced and his MS in physics from Fresno State. When Ryan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading or at the dog beach.

Sarah Cordill

Tutor

Sarah is a teacher in Long Beach, CA with a gift for working with kids. While Sarah has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in beginning reading tutoring. She studied Elementary Education at the University of Kansas. When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her camping with her husband Brian and her dog Montana.

Kallye is an experienced tutor who loves to teach reading. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the growth and progress her students make, and she loves to see the excitement on her students’ faces when they “get it.” Kallye is a graduate of Chapman University. When she’s not at Sylvan she loves to travel, read and go to the movies and concerts.

Randolph P.

Tutor

Ran is a gifted math teacher who especially enjoys teaching geometry. He loves that math encourages curiosity and questions, and enjoys teaching because every day is different and because he gets to see the looks on students faces when the finally get a challenging concept. Ran has a BS in Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics from Cal-Berkely, and also earned his MA in Coaching/Athletic Administration, MS in Coaching and Exercise Sciences and a Single Subject Math Credential from Concordia University. His hobbies include sports, especially track and field, fitness, travel and cooking.

Teacher

Claudia is both a Tutor and Admin here at Sylvan of Long Beach. In College she was an aide for the LB School District and helped in both Elementary and High School levels for the past 15 years. She enjoys working for Sylvan because she gets to interact with the students and help them one on one. She loves working with kids because she knows she is helping the future generation. Claudia is a mother of two young adults and enjoys dancing, bowling and watching movies in her free time.

Teacher

Mason is a multi-subject tutor and Admin at Sylvan of Long Beach with a gift for working with students of all ages. He finds the greatest joy in helping students with Math. He connects well with all students and knows that the services Sylvan program provides is personal, effective and sets them up for success. When Mason is not working at Sylvan, he enjoys riding minibikes, surfing and spending time with family and friends.

Teacher

Dan is a multi-subject multi-grade level Tutor here at Sylvan of LB. He has his B.A. in History and a Master in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Otis College. He also earned his a JD from Southwestern Law School. He enjoys tutoring at Sylvan because of the friendly environment, and he enjoys tutoring students as they provide energy and enthusiasm while helping them to master skills. In his free time he enjoys playing football at the beach.

Sandra

Teacher

Sandra is a Pre-K through 5th grade Tutor here at Sylvan LB for both Reading and Math. She is a graduate of both Poly Tech High School and Long Beach City College. She has been working at Sylvan LB for over three years and has over eight years of experience as an Instructional Aide for special needs children. She feels good about teaching because she is helping children build their learning skills and their confidence. She teaches because she knows that children are our future. In her free time paddles locally on an Outrigger.

Teacher

Steven is a multi-subject multi-grade level Tutor for Reading, Writing and Math. Steven has been teaching with Sylvan since 2015. He obtained his Masters of Science as well as his BA in Communications from Cal State Fullerton. He also has his Clear Multi Subject Teaching Credential as well as his Gate Certificate. He loves to help make a positive impact on children’s lives and their education. He loves to see the kids’ smiles and joy when they are happy and doing well. In his free time he enjoys playing basketball, writing lyrics and stories. He is also a Star Wars and Star Trek enthusiast. He also enjoys reading Harry Potter books. He volunteers at the Orange County Relay for Life event as well as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Teacher

Megan is a lead admin as well as a tutor here at Sylvan. Megan graduated Cal Pol State University SLO with a BA in Sociology and Comparative Ethics Studies. She was an instructional aide at LBUSD and a tutor while attending Millikin High School. She loves working at Sylvan LB and seeing the kids accomplish new goals and gain confidence with each new thing they learn. When she is not working she loves going to the beach, volunteering in the City of Long Beach as well as the Rescue Mission. She also enjoys spending time with family.

Teacher

Jimena is a tutor here at Sylvan Long pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at CSUDH in Liberal Studies and Early Learning, receiving a full ride scholarship to become a teacher. She also graduated HS with Honors! She teaches multiple grade levels and subjects and says she loves to see the progress and growth the children make. She also likes working here as she feels it’s a great place to teach and learn from both other teachers and students. When she has free time she loves the outdoors and going hiking.

Teacher

Miss Diane is a multi-subject, multi-grade level tutor. She is a UC Irvine graduate who enjoys teaching because she loves helping students find interests in studying and the confidence that follows. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, driving along the coast on PCH and volunteering at her church by teaching and helping in food service.
