Darcy Blanchard
Center Director
As Center Director, Darcy runs all day to day operations for Sylvan of Goodyear, Surprise, and Buckeye. A former middle school teacher in Phoenix , Darcy brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan. She graduated from Western Governors University. When Darcy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her swimming, gardening, crafting and enjoying the outdoors.
McKinleigh Bernardi
Director of Education
McKinleigh oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Goodyear. As a former high school math and 4th-grade teacher, McKinleigh brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Goodyear. She graduated from Oregon State University with dual degrees in Education and Psychology. When McKinleigh isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her camping and enjoying live music.
Joe and Claudia Honsberger
Owner
Joe and Claudia Honsberger are former New York school teachers. Together they have a combined experience of over 60 years teaching. Joe and Claudia moved to AZ in 1997 to open Sylvan Learning Center in Goodyear, AZ. They both have an incredible passion for children and education, with a goal that each child might have a spark ignited with a love for learning. When Joe and Claudia aren’t at Sylvan you will find them singing in the choir, playing hand bells or just being grandparents.
Monica Allsup
Teacher
Monica holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education from Iowa State University and a Master of Social Work, with in emphasis in children and families, from University of Missouri-St. Louis. She moved to AZ in July of 2017 to teach and escape the cold weather!! She is an avid St. Louis Blues hockey fan! When she is not teaching, you can catch her outside enjoying the sun!!
Adina Myers
Teacher
My name is Adina Myers. I have been a Sylvan teacher since 2016. Currently I am an Exceptional Student Services teacher at Millennium High School where I have co-taught English, World History, and Geometry. I have two adult children Jesse and Channah, both graduates from Desert Edge High School and both attending Grand Canyon University. I love teaching at Sylvan – the students are amazing and always ready to learn. They make being a teacher worth it!
Martha Bell
Tutor
Ms. Martha is a teacher in Goodyear, AZ with a gift for working with kids. While Ms. Martha has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading. She studied at San Diego State University. When Ms. Martha isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her enjoying the outdoors with her horses.
