Our tutors and staff in Westman consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Westman know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Joshua Malyk
Owner
Joshua is a young entrepreneur who moved to the Brandon area in late 2021. Joshua has a child and youth care certificate with many years working with youth at risk. J saw the need for more educational support in Westman and decided to open up a familiar face that he thought would benefit young people. Prior to J moving to Brandon, he was a teacher for Sylvan in Winnipeg. When J was young, he struggled with his bilingual, he too attended Sylvan for extra support. J believes in the Sylvan method and believes that it would help any young person that is struggling or wanting to advance their learning. In Joshua’s down time, he enjoys reading, playing guitar or relaxing with his dog Lovey.
Deborah Malyk
Owner
Deborah Malyk is a former MB Government health worker. Deborah chose to begin her Sylvan journey because she knows that it works, having her own child in Sylvan many years ago. Deborah knows what it takes for a parent to have to decide that their child needs help. Deborah is personable and caring, she loves when a child “just gets it” and the look on their face in that moment. Deborah enjoys the simple pleasures in small moments and spending time with her family, friends and dog Zoe.
Tiffanie
Director
Tiff is our Director here at Sylvan Learning of Westman. Tiff brings years of administrative experience and people skills. Tiff is a Mom of two teenagers in the Brandon School Division and understands the need for help in Education around the Westman Area. Outside of the centre, Tiff enjoys being a hairstylist and walking her two dogs!
Michael
Teacher
Michael is adaptable, intelligent and non judgmental. Michael comes from a family of teachers and brings a natural ability to help students. Michael loves soccer and plays competitively!
Tara
Teacher
Tara is enthusiastic, creative and open minded. Tara brings a positive energy to our learning environment. Tara always has a smile on her face. Tara enjoys spending time with her family and travelling.
Yemi
Teacher
Yemi is gentle, happy and brings a sense of calm to our centre. Yemi is positive and encouraging. Yemi enjoys basketball and fashion!
Nikki
Teacher
Nikki is a passionate and dedicated to the education field with over twenty years experience. Nikki spends her time between Winnipeg and home in Brandon. Nikki enjoys taking trips to visit family and going camping with friends.
