Robotics and Coding Classes in Kelowna
MAY 08, 2015
Our centre in Kelowna now offers exciting programs in STEM for elementary students!
What’s the STEM buzz all about? In today’s world, there’s a great demand for creators, innovators and thinkers who are skilled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Developing these skills at an early age can make a huge impact in a child’s life, from school to careers.
Sylvan’s innovative Robotics, Coding and Math Edge programs provide fun, hands-on learning experiences. Activities include building and programming robots with LEGO (Robotics for Kids), creating simple video games (Coding for Kids), and building on core math concepts in a fun learning environment (Math Edge).
“Our goal is to expose students to different math, technology and engineering concepts in an unconventional and fun way to inspire a life-long interest in STEM subjects,” says Catherina Butler, centre director of Kelowna Sylvan Learning. She adds, “This hands-on learning encourages collaboration, helps students build critical thinking skills, and shows how seemingly abstract concepts can be applied in real life.”
