Esther Hong

Centre Director

As Centre Director, Esther is dedicated to connecting with families in Langley and meeting their individual needs. She is passionate about encouraging students and celebrating their academic growth along the way. She is committed to providing a positive and personal learning environment for every child at Sylvan. Esther’s invaluable experience of teaching children and counselling parents while living overseas has given her great insight into families of various backgrounds and cultures. She says, “The simple truth is this: Parents just want the very best for their children. It is a privilege to partner with parents and work together for their child’s academic and personal success.”

Mary Yang

Director of Education

Mary, our Mandarin speaking Director of Education, oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors. Mary started learning piano when she was five years old and developed a respect and admiration for teachers. This led to her career choice of education. Mary has seen many of her students build their confidence and skills so they can become their best selves. It continues to be her desire to achieve those goals for every student.

Ashveen Gill

Tutor

As the lead Math Teacher at our centre, Ashveen teaches students up to Grade 12 in all Math subjects. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, in Mathematics and Criminology. Obtaining strong mathematical knowledge has helped her utilize critical thinking and logical reasoning strategies for her teaching approach. She has the ability to break down complicated concepts into simple step-by-step instruction for students and peers. Ashveen understands how it feels to struggle in this complex subject; therefore, she is committed to helping students set achievable goals for themselves and celebrating their accomplishments. When Ashveen is not at Sylvan, she enjoys exploring her creative side through entrepreneurship and artistry.

Avnita Dosanjh

Tutor

As the lead Science Teacher at our centre, Avnita teaches students in Science, as well as Math and Reading. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. With Avnita’s strong listening skills and concise explanations, she works to support students’ academic growth. Avnita is committed to connecting with students and helping them gain confidence and motivation. As an avid reader, Avnita enjoys reading fiction novels of all genres.
