Russell Crowe

Center Director

As Centre Director, Russell leads customer service, sales, and operations for Sylvan Learning of Comox Valley. A former District Manager, Russell chose a career in the tutoring business because he saw how much Sylvan positively impacted his children and wanted to share that success with others. He studied Business and Biology at Vancouver Island University. When Russell isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him spending time with his family, watching movies, or working in the garden.

Susan Crowe

Director of Education

Susan Crowe oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Comox. Susan is a certified teacher in British Columbia. She graduated from Vancouver Island University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Education. Susan has a particular interest in working with Intermediate and Secondary students develop their writing and study skills to ensure their success in further education and their careers. When Susan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her camping, spending time with her children, and her dogs.

Chelsea Heidebrecht is an Inclusive Education Teacher in Courtenay, BC, with a passion for working with kids. Chelsea has many tutoring talents and finds the greatest joy in early literacy tutoring. She studied at the University of British Columbia, the University of Alberta, and is currently completing coursework through Queens University. When Chelsea isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her knitting, trying out new recipes or walking her dog, Zelda.

Jazmin Harvey

Teacher

Jazmin is a passionate educator, who has been working with young people for more than 8 years. Jazmin’s love of learning and travel took her from Canada to international teaching experiences, expanding her knowledge in teaching diverse learners. Jazmin graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, with a major in English specializing in literary analysis, linguistics, and teaching English as another language. Jazmin now teaches in British Columbia, and in 2020, completed a Graduate Degree in Inclusive Education at VIU. As a teacher and life-long learner herself, Jazmin is enthusiastic about bringing rich learning experiences that engage each student a Sylvan.
