John Monai
Centre Director
John has been Centre Director of the St. Albert Sylvan Centre for 18 years, and he has been with Sylvan in the Edmonton area for over 30 years. A former teacher in the public and private school systems in Alberta, John brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his position. He loves the tutoring business because he gets to see the positive effects Sylvan has on students’ confidence and academic skills such as reading and math, as well as the joy that parents and grandparents experience when their child or grandchild becomes an independent learner.
Olivia Case
Tutor
Olivia teaches Sylvan reading, math, and writing programs, and she has tutored students in high school English and Social Studies. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education and has worked in the public school system. When she is not at Sylvan, Olivia enjoys creative writing and art.
Natasha Findling
Tutor
Natasha has a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education, and she teaches Sylvan reading, math, and writing programs. Natasha has been with Sylvan for a year and a half, and she is very effective working with the younger students. In her free time, Natasha plays soccer and coaches children in gymnastics.
Asmaa Mohammed Assaf
Tutor
Asmaa graduated from university with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. In addition to teaching the Sylvan programs, she provides tutoring to our high school students in the areas of math and the sciences. Having been a Sylvan student herself, Asmaa takes great pleasure in helping students with their academic needs. In her free time, Asmaa spends time painting.
Ava Chelliah
Tutor
Ava is completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and she teaches the Sylvan reading, math, and writing programs. Ava loves working with students of all ages, and she easily builds rapport with them.
Sumayah Assaf
Tutor
Sumayah has just completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and she has provided tutoring to high school students in math and the sciences and has taught the Sylvan programs. In her free time, Sumayah loves to cook.
