Our tutors and staff in Grande Prairie consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Grande Prairie know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Christine Ashby
Centre Director
As the Centre Director for the Online Sylvan of Grande Prairie, Christine manages assessments, scheduling, and student programs. She has worked both as an instructor at Sylvan, and as director, at various centres since 2008. She has also worked as a substitute teacher with various school districts. Christine has always known she wanted to be a teacher and discovered Sylvan through a TV commercial while she was still in high school. This led her to consider other avenues of teaching, and she applied to work at a centre after graduating from the University of Alberta. When Christine isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband, 2 children, and pet cat.
Pedram F
Teacher and Tutor
Pedram loves to teach all grade levels but specializes in Language, Essay-Writing, and High School Math. After receiving his degrees in Mathematics and Secondary Education, he went to Spain to continue his studies while working as a translator. Back in Canada, he began work as a tutor and enjoys it immensely. When not at Sylvan, Pedram can be found either spending time with his wife or at the local library.
Jenna H
Teacher and Tutor
Jenna has degrees in both Elementary Education and Science – Biology. She currently teaches in Edmonton, but previously taught for 6 years on the beautiful shores of Lesser Slave Lake. She loves working with her hands for activities such as gardening, crafting, and playing video games. When she isn’t working, Jenna spends time with her husband and two cats.
Brendan B
Tutor
Brendan’s background is in Social Studies, and his love for historical knowledge is very apparent. He also loves to teach math, since it is an area he struggled with himself as a student, so he knows how to break down the concepts. Energetic and full of humor, he could probably be described as a “class clown”. When not at Sylvan, Brendan can often be found with a book in his hand.
Manisha S
Teacher and Tutor
Manisha is currently working towards earning her Bachelor’s degree in secondary education, with a major in Physics and a minor in Math. She is passionate about taking an active role in the learning development of youth, and providing them with resources to use in their future. In her spare time, Manisha loves to volunteer, and has received several awards for various roles.
