Jess Lacasse

Center Director

Director

Jess is the Centre Director for Sylvan of NE Calgary. A former learning assistant, Jess chose a career with Sylvan Learning because she loves working with families and values excellent education. She graduated from the Social Work program at Mount Royal University. When Jess isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing video games, or spending time with family and friends.

Tsion Habtu

Director of Education

Director

Tsion oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of teachers. She just recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a major in biological anthropology and a minor in law and society. Tsion is also fluent in Amharic, and is able to assist families, or provide instruction, to those who would prefer to communicate in Amharic! When she isn’t at Sylvan, you can find her playing volleyball, or watching superhero movies.

Annie Luna

Lead Teacher

Annie is one of our wonderful teachers here at Sylvan of Northeast Calgary. Annie is most fulfilled when she is able to help students in many different fields of study. While Annie has many tutoring talents, math is her specialization. She has graduated with a degree in secondary education in the Philippines and is pursuing her diploma in Business Administration at BVC. In her spare time, you’ll find Annie cooking for her family and friends as well as watching movies!

Punit Kaur

Teacher

Punit was a French language teacher in Delhi, India with a gift for working with kids. While Punit has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring English and math subjects. In addition, Punit is able to provide instruction in both Punjabi and French. She received her Bachelor of Commerce at Delhi University. When Punit isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watching movies and spending time with her family!

Gagan Sarai

Teacher

Gagan is a dedicated tutor with a gift of working with kids at Sylvan of Northeast Calgary. While she has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in sciences and language arts. She is currently studying at the University of Calgary and is working towards a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. Gagan is also able to provide instruction in Hindi and Punjabi. When Gagan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family and watching Netflix.

Shaima Rahmani

Teacher

Shaima Rahmani is an elementary teacher in Calgary, Canada with a gift for working with kids. While Shaima has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in language arts and social studies tutoring. She also studied at Mount Royal University. When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading thriller books and spending time with family and friends.

Ruchika Sharma

Teacher

Ruchika is a dedicated educator with over 4 years of teaching experience. Holding a Master’s degree in Mathematics, she is passionate about nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning. Ruchika is an Alberta certified teacher, known for her commitment to excellence in education and her ability to inspire students to excel in the field of mathematics. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, volunteering and exploring new teaching methodologies.

Urvashi Sareen

Teacher

Urvashi is an amazing teacher here at Sylvan Learning of NE Calgary. She has special expertise in Math and Science. Urvashi is patient, empathtic, adaptable, and enthusiastic. She has a love of learning, strong communication skills, respect for students, the ability to build rapport, is an active listener, and is committed to student growth. Urvashi especially excels in being able to connect with students while creating a supportive learning environment through understanding and flexibility. She also studied at M.S.University. When Urvashi isn’t at Sylvan, you can find her listening to music, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking.
